Uzbekistan National Film Commission invites foreign filmmakers
The National Film Commission of Uzbekistan established in 2018 by the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It is an organization that is engaged in attracting foreign filmmakers to Uzbekistan for filming pictures and joint film production. Film Commission presents the possibilities of domestic cinema and cinema locations of the country. It provides free organizational, industrial and technical assistance for foreign film companies.
The National Film Commission will implement all international projects.
The main goal of the organization is to declare Uzbekistan as a country with a developing film industry.
Each year, the Film Commission will represent the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan at international film markets, such as “European Film Market” (Germany, Berlin), “India International Film Tourism Conclave” (India, Mumbai), “FILMART” (China, Hong Kong), “Marche du film”(France, Cannes), “Shanghai IFF” (China, Shanghai), “Toronto IFF” (Canada, Toronto), “Asian Film Market” (South Korea, Busan), “American Film Market”(USA, Santa- Monica), “Focus” (UK, London).
In addition, the Film Commission is the directorate of the PROlogue International Film Festival, which takes place annually at the end of November in Tashkent. Also, by the decree of the President, in the framework of the film festival, for the first time an exhibition of domestic film locations “LocationEXPOuz” will be organized in 2019.
The Film Commission is responsible for the development of the “rebate” system, which will launched from January 1, 2020. Uzbekistan will reimburse 20% of the production budget.
Now Uzbekistan is entering a worthy fight for film producers, on which not only the flows of tourists and the image of the country will depend, but also the budget spent on the project that will remain in the country.
